About
Benjamin Heyman

Growing up in Port Washington, Long Island, Benjamin had a quintessential Jewish-American upbringing, including religious study, as well as attending a Jewish summer camp, Camp Modin in Maine, the same his father attended in the 30’s and 40’s.

He went on to major in photography and design at Rochester Institute of Technology, after which he then spent 20 years working alongside his family at Oscar Heyman & Brothers, a renowned fine jewelry atelier in NYC. He became a master craftsman and designer, eventually managing 65 highly-skilled artisans specializing in all phases of classical platinum and gold gemstone style jewelry.

Since moving to the upscale Berkshires in 2002, his artistic and creative pursuits had him working professionally in the theater arts as a sound and set designer.

He found an artistic home for seven years, managing Concepts of Art, a fine Judaic Gallery in Lenox, while reconnecting with his conservative Jewish roots. The gallery features his increasingly popular—and affordable—Jewish cultural pop art and now can be found in galleries in Boston and New York City.

The metaphor is evident in “Spritz”, “Seltzer”, and “Egg Cream”:

Effervescent!
